Here is a behind the scenes look at how David put together the beautiful pallet wood table from yesterday. Man it was a HOT hot HOT day in Georgia..remember the super heat wave in June? Yea, David was out in the carport putting this baby together! All for a great reason, and totally worth it!
As with every project, we started the the morning at The Home Depot…David’s preferred hardware store. We had a lot of what we needed at home, that was the great part about this project, but we still needed some finishing pieces.
We were able to find enough discarded wood pallets for this and other projects.
The beginning stages of the project were mainly figuring out what fits, moving around boards, and cleaning up the pallets.
All of our photos are a collaboration of David and I grabbing shots as this came together. Above is a great shot of a pallet cleaned up and sanded. Also, you can see some of the finishing touches David added to the boards…stain and wax.
David has a great eye for these projects. He chose to buy a couple 1×6 boards to give a nice finished edge. Then, he added some great hardware to complete the look and still give it a rustic edge.
Just about finished, I think the photo above is from the drying time. We needed to let all the stain dry before we hauled that thing to ILM! Haha! As you can see below, Tess and Mason got a wild ride! After major storms set in, we had to stop and move the table from on top of the car to inside the car! Our Pilot is one tough SUV! Oh man, it is always an adventure around here…
