This past weekend we ripped out our one and only bathroom and gave it a face-lift! We want to eventually add another bathroom to the house, but in case we do not do that before we move we thought it might be good to have at least one, nice, updated, lovely bathroom. If a bathroom can be lovely. Anyway, it was a great learning experience, and I would say that David and I are a great team! But, we already knew that!
I have attached before and after videos, as well as some pics of the process.
BEFORE:
Not bad, but was probably original to our 1960′s home. We cleaned it up a bit last summer when we moved in, but with a black dog and all that white, we really needed something different on the floor.
(insert pre-demo video here later, too much for wk upload. Check back)
David did the demo. We had some minor injuries, and battle wounds.
Tess, always hard at work.
We cut and planned out the tile before setting it all permanently. I think my technique of drawing out tiles on paper to be cut may not be the official way of measuring tiles, but it really worked well for us. (see example in bottom right of photo- looks like a good fit)
All the tiles set in mortar!
Once we got to this point, putting on the grout, it was actually fun to see what everything was going to look like. This is David applying the grout.
Drying.
I do not have any photos of the Plumber, but he had to come and help us out on Sunday. Our old toilet had corroded parts we could not remove, and we could not get the water cut off in the house, so he got us past that hurdle. David was able to finish the install on both the sink and toilet and we were back in business!
All finished!

We are really excited about our results, and enjoying our new bathroom! Thanks to Mike and Cindy for the use of their tile saw, and the people at Lowe’s for all the help!

Wow! You two did a great job! I am very impressed right now. I love the color of the tile you picked, too. And of course the pics of Tess lending a helping hand.
